Employee Spotlight: Yazmira Orengo, RBT

Where do you call home?

Home is where my clients are.

How many years have you worked in the ABA field?

I have been in the ABA field for almost 8 years.

How did you end up working for Applied ABC?

I was looking up ABA companies one day and found Applied ABC. Let me just say that working for this company has been a dream, and I've never been happier. This company is one of those hidden special gems that really treat their employees like family.

What’s the most fulfilling part of your work?

When a client runs to me and gives me a hug at the beginning of the session... That makes any gloomy day bright in my eyes.

How do you unwind after a long day?

I go home and cuddle with my babies. I have a daughter who is severely autistic, and she's the reason why I do what I do. I get it... Not only as an RBT but as a mother, I get it.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I can sing, play many instruments, and I'm a huge Marvel person! (NOT DC LOL)

Could you talk about a meaningful success story that you had with a client?

There have been many, but there's always one that hits close to the heart. I once had a client who wasn't verbal and was a bundle of joy. They always wanted to play and laugh and have a great time. One day, after a couple of months of sessions, the client says, "Miss Mira." It was so out of the blue, but I laughed and cried and hugged that client so hard. My name is Yazmira, but I took that as a huge win! I will always remember that moment. Now, here we are, 3 years later, and I still have that same client. They're extremely bright, very verbal, and still an absolute joy to have. That's a family I can't ever let go of.
